All users now get more historical logging in their designs. This means the recent changes will continue to be accessible and available to view, or roll-back, changes.
Previously, users were unable to access logs after 14, or 28 days (based on your plan). This was restrictive and it was felt there was more value in allowing all users the ability to look further back into their design's history.

So from 1st May 2025 we no longer hide old logs from users on the Pro plan. Logs will now accumulate over time and you'll be able to look back through all historical changes (going forward).

To help you navigate the change logs we have also added more search filters. You can now filter all recent changes to help dig into any item that has been changed, the type of change, and who made it.

To find these filters, open the logs from the top circle icon in the Canvas designer, then select 'Filters'. You can clear the filters any time with the green 'filter' icon.

Duplication made easy - thanks to the new content reuse feature in Coursensu. We've added a powerful new way to maximise the value of your learning designs by reusing existing content across multiple designs, weeks, or versions.
You can now browse your existing content library from within any design, and add instances of reusable content wherever it's needed. Each reused instance remains read-only, clearly indicating its original source, helping you maintain consistency and quality at scale.

Why?
Learning design is rarely a one-time effort - great ideas, sequences, and evaluations are often worth repeating. For example when you're

1. Starting or wrapping up a week of learning,
2. Reapplying a well-structured sequence of activities,
3. Reusing an effective form of evaluation,

You can now access design notes directly from the floating toolbar. Previously these were only accessible from the storyboard view. We wanted to remove the extra clicks to access this feature and make it closer to where you make design decisions.
Create notes for reminders, actions and ideas for what needs to be done, or remembered, for any content item.

Changes
📝  Design notes icon in the floating toolbar.
👉  Design notes open in a sidebar, like Comments.
🎹  Press 'esc' to close the design notes sidebar.

This new functionality is combined with the existing features of design notes.

For those less familiar, here's a reminder of what you can use these for:

Our aim is to make design notes more accessible and more available for your team to work together in a shared, productive space.

We have combined five toolbar icons into a new submenu. This helps to tidy up the interface and provide short explanations as to what each of the icons means, for users to become more familiar with their functionality and reduce the number of icons in the canvas designer.
Nothing has been taken away with this change, only combined into a single menu that will make navigating, and using Coursensu, a more intuitive user experience.

Changes
🎯  Purpose / outcomes icon now represents all five tools.
➡️  Added a submenu to select which tool to use.
🙋🏼  Added a short summary of each tool, to help orientation.

Our aim is to simplify the user interface while not removing tools that help you design learning experiences. It is a small change but one that helps us reduce any extra cognitive effort when changing tools.

The Methods browser is now combined with the Learning Types into a single dropdown menu. This creates a unified interface to define any learning experience.
Why?
Selecting and adding your own methods helps to define the learning activity. The method could be learner-led, for example; reflecting, writing, discussing or instructor-led, for example; presenting, demonstrating, explaining.

We have a collection of hundreds of hundreds of methods  for you to chose from. You can also add your own - and build a team-wide collection of methods.

Setting Methods is part of the journey - another part is to set the Learning Type. This provides a way to categorise learning into one of several groups, for example; discussion, practice or production.

These types are a research-based way of categorising learning and help you to create well-balanced experiences. You can read more about this on our research page.

Features / changes
🔽  Method and Learning Type are now combined into one single dropdown menu
👉  Select any item and then choose (or type in) any learning or instructional method.
✨  Decide a Learning Type to filter the pre-defined list of Methods.

You can now 'lock' the content of any item with the newly added 'Finalised' status. This has been added to the default list of statuses alongside Draft, Review and Approved.
Why
Each status quickly communicates each items current state. This new status has been added from feedback received that after a certain point, you don't just want to change status but also prevent collaborators from making changes to certain items.

The new Finalised status is made for teams working together in a shared design. Once the content has been set and approved, there becomes a stage in some workflows when making further changes to the content can disrupt review and approval processes.

Features
Instead of changing people's permissions to prevent changes, the item can now be set to 'Finalised' which then prevents any changes to that single item.

🔒  Finalised status added for each content item.
🚫  Finalised items can no longer be edited by any user.
🔓  Team users can change item's status from Finalised (via the floating toolbar).
🔙  Team and Pro users can revert all 'Finalised' items to 'Review' from the Team -> Designs page.

You can now choose from either an in-line content editor, or the classic 'storyboard' view, for any of your learning designs. This gives you more choice when designing learning experiences and creating content on Coursensu.
Why?
The storyboard presents a single view to detail every step of the learning experience. It remains available when you want to articulate the details needed for design, production and delivery. It's the all-in-one tool for a learning designer or content producer.

Alternatively, the in-line editor is best used when you prefer an at-a-glance view for content development and review. The new in-line editor sits alongside your content items, and does not need to be opened like the storyboard view.

This provides a faster, intuitive and streamlined mode for creating, editing and reviewing the learning content.

Features
Design editors can switch view from the 'Details' section - as shown in the video. The view options are:

🔹  Storyboard or in-line editor
🔹  'Sticky notes' or 'Rows'
🔹  Wrapping or No wrapping

Any combination can be used, to set the design view that works best for your team.

Saving changes
The content editor will autosave (with visual confirmation) when any of the following conditions are met:

1️⃣  Switch between content items.
2️⃣  Close the storyboard.
3️⃣  When 15 seconds has passed since the last change.
